I originally thought that 8 feet was too big because I have a 8 feet ceiling, but it turned out to be 7,6", which is perfect for me to put a tree topper on. Also, the base of a 8' is 54" instead of 34" for a 7’ which gives me more space to hang ornaments on. I would get an unlighted tree if you are thinking about the difference of cost (although I know it's expenses to light with “external” lights so it's all a wash). I swapped it out with a 7' and I really love the way that you can manipulate the wires for hanging ornaments on. It's a sparse tree which highlights the ornaments instead of the tree. We lost our Christmas tree in a house fire and needed to purchase a new one. I did a good deal of looking and decided that the reviews and sale price on this tree seemed to be the best for what we wanted. It was delivered quickly and I set it up in a garage and checked to be sure that the lights worked since it was to be put in storage until 2025. (We are currently living in a motorhome until our house is rebuilt.) I did not spend time fluffing the branches because it was going right back into the box; however it seemed sturdy, full, and very well made with plenty of lights. I would say that my only disappointment would be that the tips of the tree didn’t look quite as feathery as the picture (I thought it resembled a redwood from the picture but the ends are more of a typical pine needle).
