It came broken so they are sending me a new one.

I was hoping to hang the Aquitaine Geometric Wall Shelf in my modern, mid-century office. Unfortunately, it arrived broken. I believe the breakage was likely avoidable. The shipping box had been opened and resealed at some point. It may have been an earlier return as there were small, broken, styrofoam pieces in the box, but whatever they had once been a part of had been removed prior to shipping to me. There was also a limited amount of bubble wrap haphazardly wrapped around the piece and pushed into the shelf cavities, but not nearly enough to protect the shelf. It appears to have been dropped on its face as it sustained damage at seven different locations on the face where it cracked around the open shelf framing. Shipping damage aside, I would likely not have used the piece even if it had arrived in perfect condition as it has an abnormal depth to it for a wall unit. When hung, it would have projected maybe 10” off the wall (sorry, I didn’t measure), which would have taken up valuable floor space. You could hang it over a cabinet or dresser to lessen the impact, but the depth would have made styling difficult, and the projection would have still have made for an odd focal point.
