Nightstand Alternatives We Love

(And How to Style Them.)

The classic bed-and-nightstand pairing will never go out of style, but if you want to save space or get more use out of the area, swap yours for one of these unexpected additions.

The Dining Chair

If your bedroom's on the smaller side, use a slim dining chair as a bedside table. The flat surface offers ample space for essentials, like your phone, books, and a glass of water. For added style, top the chair with art books and blooms.

The Writing Desk

For a multipurpose bedside table, bring in a flattop writing desk and an easy-to-store stool. By day, it doubles as a relaxed vanity or laptop work station.

The Garden Stool and Pouf

With extra personality and style, a garden stool or pouf can sit by the bed for easy surface storage. To make it more sturdy, top it off with a decorative tray to corral chargers, remotes, and books.

The Floating Shelf

Hang a shelf in line with the top of your mattress, then top with a small lamp. To make the most of the floor space underneath, stack books, or add a set of woven baskets.
