4 Designer Tricks to Make Affordable Art Look Luxe
It's easier than you think.
Whether you have a mix of posters, prints, or photographs, a few small tricks can make your collection look like a set of artist originals. Here, four ways to give everyday art an upgrade.
1. Create a gallery.
Hang art together for added interest. To start, space out a few of your larger frames – hanging one at eye level, one slightly higher, and so on. Once the framework has been mapped out, fill in the gaps with your smaller pieces.
2. Mix and match frames.
For a display with character and dimension, hang a variety of different frames in the same group. Natural wood, light-reflecting metallics, and bold contrasting colors can all work together with simple black and white frame sets.
3. Add a matting.
Even the smallest print takes on a stately, high-end look with the addition of a crisp matting beneath the glass. Shop for frames with matting included, and choose neutral, white shades to help art stand out.
4. Use furniture as a guide.
Larger focal points can center your gallery wall and help it make a statement. Try centering it over a sofa, console table, TV stand, or dresser to ground the look.
