3 Ways to Fake a Walk-In Closet
More wardrobe storage. Zero renovation.
Tight on closet space? Instead of cutting your wardrobe in half, re-think your bedroom layout and carve out room for a walk-in closet. Simply start in an area that’s easy to access, then try one of these clever combinations that prove spacious storage is possible, no matter your square footage.
1. Curtain Panels + A Garment Rack
Pull your bed out a few feet from the wall and hang curtain panels in place of a traditional headboard. Then, center a garment rack behind the curtains and mount wall shelves for extra storage.
2. A Tall Wardrobe + Low Bookcase
In an under-used corner, position a tall armoire a few feet out from the wall. Then, place a horizontal bookcase inside the space (perfect for stacking shoes and bags) and hang a mirror above for storage that doubles as a dressing table.
3. A Hanging Rod + Dressers
Place two free-standing dressers against a blank wall, making sure one is low enough to allow for hanging space above. Then, mount a wall shelf with a hanging rod overhead for an open-concept closet that becomes part of your decor.
