The fabric is not the canvas-feel fabric I had on my last umbrella (lighter weight) but the mechanism for opening is much nicer than my old umbrella and the price was very affordable compared to what I saw elsewhere (on line and where I live). I ordered the champagne color and it was a little more beige than I expected (not quite as much gold as I thought) but a nice neutral color that would work with anything. Very pleased.
