The bench was elegant, sturdy and light/easy to move. However there was a rustic/wooden smell to it, something that can be a feature in a large country house but not something we were necessarily looking for. A lovely, simple bench, with sturdy weight and great length. Solid design. Easy to assemble with included tool. We bought it to sit outside near our kitchen door. One year in it is still smooth and splinter-free with no treatment. We decided to oil it as we moved it to an unprotected spot in our garden - loving it so much we bought a second one this year.
