I had thought this set was 8 of each, but it's 4 of each -- placemats and napkins. That's fine. I didn't need more. The placemats are very rustic, kind of burlap-like. The napkins are soft. This set goes really beautifully with blues, tans, golds, or even whites an off-whites. We bought them to go with a dark blue dining room, dark blue tablecloth, and gold dinnerware.
