These were beautiful but unfortunately although they said dishwasher safe... they are not. The gold started to come off quickly and now I am stuck with a whole set of discolored flatware. I do not recommend these.

These have a "5 star look" but unfortunately get only 1-2 stars for function. Affordable, well made everyday Gold/Champagne flatware that's 18:8 or 18:10 steel was really hard to find, I searched extensively. Sadly, that remains true after we gave this one a shot. I'm all about natural visual variations in finish and even shape for a beautiful hand forged set but had to draw the line at dysfunction. Unfortunately, the knives are so barely serrated that they wouldn't even cut an overcooked string bean (I tried and they failed). The tines of the forks (both sizes) had strangely angled tips that were somewhere between pointy and flat and didn't seem like they would spear well or feel good in the mouth. The knives were the main reason we returned all 3 sets that we ordered and went with a more reliably designed, less unique looking but still cool looking, Mikasa 18:10 set in the end. If you don't care about knives that can cut food, I suspect that you'd have to be ok with irregular patina/finish wearing as part of the "artisanally aging" look over time, but we never got that far. Very sorry to not be able to enjoy this set as its really stunning to look at. Also sorry for the $50 return fee, but dysfunction is a dealbreaker for us and worth the lost $.
