I agree with others that it is slightly higher and sort of forces you to have really good posture. Compared to my previous table, it is about 3/4 inch higher. The color is a neutral brown and not very warm so it's not the greatest match to my chairs but I guess I will get new ones, but different can be good. You can comfortably sit 6 with people on the ends, maybe 8. One set of bolts was difficult to screw in and I stripped the heads so hopefully I never have to take this apart! Beautiful table. Legs are sturdy and it was easy to assemble with 2 people. The only complaint that I have is that one of the corners of the leaf sticks up higher than the dining table and does not sit flush. This issue makes the seam very noticeable.
