I can either sit more upright for when I want that cup of coffee or tea, or sit more reclined in it to read. I am using the Joaquin Folding Outdoor ottoman as did not want to have to purchased the two matching when my husband didn't want the ottoman. Once again the best of both worlds, we are pleased with our purchase. We just had a friend sit in my husband's and he said "I could sit here all day!!" We did not have any difficulty with assembly, but than my husband has built furniture and knew exactly what to do, when the screw did not align he just slightly loosened one of the other ones to let the pressure off than finished tightening all of the the screws..
