It's a beautiful well made heavy piece of furniture. Even the hardware is good quality. We have one little issue with the right door not working well with the magnet so it doesn't close all the way. Luckily with wood filler I had on-hand, I repaired myself. The instructions for the door magnets were not self-explanatory and I thought were sized incorrectly. Overall the bureau is fine and sturdy. I did have some damage to the top of the bureau. It's more like a flaw. A four inch section of the top finish (from side to side) is missing so the finish is rough to the touch and you can see the difference. For 1400 dollars the item should be perfect. The first thing you'll notice when you get this home is that it is most definitely NOT dark brown as it said in the description when I bought it. It is gray, kind of washed out gray. I was surprised by the color but I do love the looks of it and it goes well in my entryway. It's very heavy wood, and kind of rustic. It stands tall because it has the metal legs on the bottom. The cabinet doors seem a bit clunky, the inside has one shelf. I'm attaching a photo of this chest in front of my old one which is dark mahogany brown.
