Both chair and ottoman were protected with a type of bag so that the items do not rub or wear against the box - that’s what I am guessing. Keeping the boxes and both bags to repackage when we move. The feet of the ottoman are sturdy and plastic. We will be replacing them with wooden ones just to elevate the ottoman a little. The only drawbacks are - it is a tad on the shorter side (but not terrible) and the price was very high for a chair that has a too firm seat - I expected soft and cushy comfort.
