Very smooth. It did arrive with dents but I don't feel like returning it. Expensive though for a dented item like this. But they are smaller now that I pooped them out. I just hide that side. But it is really nice, and it looks like real brushed brass with high copper content. I know it's metal, but for 450 bucks. It should be pure copper first order from this place or this website and it wasn't a great experience.So I'll go with others that i've had a better experience with. It’s not soft like a squishy sofa, more firm but still comfy enough for a long read or just to chill with tea. The ivory fabric is nice—has a woven texture that feels quality, not scratchy or cheap. I didn’t need to build anything, which I loved, it just came ready to go. My cat claimed it the first night (of course). The arms are a bit higher than I expected though, so not great for everyone maybe. It doesn’t swivel or rock or anything, just a chill, sit-back type of chair.
