We actually use this in front of our screen door while our dog sits & watches outside. When he sees an animal he goes to scratch the screen but this fireplace screen halts him! Great product!

This ended up being perfect for our old fireplace. It says the weight is 16 lbs, but that includes packaging. It is lightweight and easy to lift on and off the hearth. Our old one was 22 lbs and unwieldy.
