I have messy kids, if I had to do a stool purchase all over again I would only buy stools with removable cushions. But that being said these have been fine, but I cover the cushions in plastic to protect (most of the time). They've gotten a few very small spots on them, and I immediately tried to clean off with soap & water and the spots have not come out.

The stools are very well made and the design is so well crafted extremely sturdy and comfortable. And, to top it off, they were delivered assembled with no defects and well packages and covered for protect.
