2,000 for a defective bed and weeks of aggravation. I genuinely loved the design of this bed, which is why I was willing to spend nearly 2,000 on it. Unfortunately, from the moment I placed the order through the moment we finally tried to assemble it, this has been one of the worst furniture-buying experiences I’ve ever had.
The problems started with the delivery. The listing advertised free Full-Service Delivery Set Up, but after ordering, my confirmation and shipping emails said the bed would simply be left outside my door. I contacted Wayfair repeatedly to try to resolve this and was ultimately told they couldn’t correct the delivery issue. I had to contact customer service six times about this one order.
Then one of the boxes was damaged during shipping and had to be replaced. The shipment became a complete tracking nightmare. At one point my order showed six different tracking numbers, with conflicting statuses. Customer service gave me completely different answers about how many boxes the bed shipped in first 2, then 5, then 3. They eventually gave me tracking numbers that they later admitted were internal carrier numbers that I couldn’t actually use to track the shipment myself. I even received an email saying my delivery had been unsuccessful after a massive box had already been delivered and was sitting in my garage.
After all of that, we FINALLY received the bed. Unfortunately, that was when we discovered that the actual product was just as problematic as the delivery process.
No assembly instructions were included.
During assembly
* Approximately 75 of the screws would not fully go in or sit flush.
* One screw with a washer would not go in at all.
* We were missing one of the three support legs.
* Because the screws weren’t sitting flush, the slats could not lay flat in two different spots.
* And, unbelievably, once we finally assembled what we could, the bed does not properly fit a standard king mattress.
No matter how we positioned our standard king mattress, you could clearly see the bed slats along the sides and at the bottom corners. The mattress simply does not sit correctly within the frame.
We spent approximately three hours trying to assemble this bed and troubleshoot all of these issues, only to conclude that the product itself was defective andor improperly manufactured.
At this point, I have to say that charging nearly 2,000 for this product is audacious. A beautiful photograph and a designer name do not make up for poor manufacturing, missing hardware, missing instructions, improperly fitting components, and a frame that doesn’t properly accommodate a standard king mattress.
To Wayfair’s credit, they ultimately did the right thing and refunded the entire purchase price, and I appreciate that resolution. But now I’m left with a massive, defective piece of furniture that I have to figure out how to dispose of, creating completely unnecessary waste.
What makes this particularly frustrating is that this wasn’t one isolated problem. It was a chain of problems from beginning to end
Misleading delivery expectations → incorrectfailed delivery service → damaged shipment → multiple conflicting tracking numbers → six customer service contacts → contradictory information about the number of boxes → unusable tracking information → missing assembly instructions → missing hardware → defective screw holes → missing support leg → slats that don’t sit flat → and finally, a bed frame that doesn’t properly fit a standard king mattress.
I was excited to purchase a piece from the Becki Owens x Joss Main collection, especially because this is a newly launched collaboration that is being actively promoted. Instead, after all the time, effort, and aggravation involved, I ended up with a defective bed that couldn’t even be properly assembled or used.
Beautiful design, absolutely unacceptable execution.
I would not recommend this bed to anyone. It was absolutely not worth the 2,000 price tag or the enormous amount of aggravation it caused.
