At Home with Witney Carson
Comfort meets style in this Salt Lake retreat.
Pro dancer Witney Carson is a woman of many talents; when she isn’t competing for the Mirrorball Trophy on TV, she’s working on her lifestyle blog and popular athleisure line, CAPRI. And then there’s the home she and her husband just purchased—a fixer upper in the couple’s native state of Utah. “It’s been such a project, but I’m so glad we did it,” says Carson.
After renovating the two-story structure from top to bottom, the star called on our team for help with the design. First up, the two spaces where she most loves to relax: a layered, comfortable master bedroom and texture-rich, fall-ready patio. Take a look.
You and your husband recently moved into this space. Can you tell us about how you ended up here?
We didn’t necessarily fall in love with the home at first, we fell in love with the property and the view. But I’ve absolutely loved the process of making it ours.
Walk us through your master bedroom. What do you love most about the space?
I wanted our bedroom to feel cozy and comfortable, and be a space we could escape to at the end of a crazy day and feel calm. This room exceeded my expectations after the Joss & Main team completed it.
Was there anything this space absolutely had to have?
I knew I wanted a little space to read and relax, other than the bed. The little nook by the window is absolutely perfect.
And what about the back deck—what was your inspiration for your outdoor space?
I wanted this space to be the ultimate hangout spot for our friends and family; a place to socialize as well as play. And we love how cozy it is.
A lot of people struggle with transitioning their outdoor space for fall. Can you share any tips?
We added a fire pit and made sure there were plenty of blankets and pillows to snuggle up with on chilly nights.
