After years of brushed silver, polished nickel, and antique mercury glass being the de rigueur finishes in interior design, brass and gold have officially fallen back into favor.
We’ll credit the trend to “it” designers like Jonathan Adler and Kelly Wearstler (and their affinity for Pedro Friedeberg’s gold hand chair, you know the one), and the popularity of transitional style, which showed us all that old and new, and ornate and minimal can happily coexist.
But regardless of where the trend started, brass and gold are everywhere and it seems like they’re here to stay.
First, to ease any concerns: This isn’t the stuff of dated sitting rooms from the 1980s. In fact, it’s exactly the opposite. Done right, today’s gold-tone accents are fresh, chic, and entirely of the moment.
For proof, here are just a few of the ways we’re currently loving the look.
In other words, we love it anywhere and everywhere.
