Inside Kacey Musgraves’ Living Room Revamp

The country star called on blogger Elsie Larson for help, and the resulting design stuns.

Elsie Larson, one-half of the sister-duo behind the blog A Beautiful Mess, isn’t in the business of designing celebrity homes. But when her new friend, country star Kacey Musgraves, needed help with her Music City home, she made an exception. “We have a lot of similar influences,” writes Larson on her blog, adding that within hours of Musgraves’ makeover plea, she found herself shopping for brass horseshoes and cacti. And as the images show, accepting was the right move. Together, the two created a living room undeniably rooted in country, but with a distinctly playful twist—much like Musgraves herself. Take a look.

When it came to finding the just-right pieces for Musgraves’ western-inspired space, Larson knew just where to turn: Joss & Main. “I felt really lucky when I found these white leather chairs with the perfect cowgirl details,” writes Larson, who also tapped our catalog for cowhide pillows and live-edge coffee table.

Ever the DIY-enthusiast, Larson got crafty with the Grammy award-winner’s new record station: the cabinet’s interior was painted to add a pop of pink when opened, and the cactus marquee lights displayed above? Custom-made by Larson herself.
